Anthropic's Mythos AI sparks security concerns for Ethereum and Solana networks.

Anthropic's Claude Mythos AI is not a direct threat to Ethereum and Solana, as it remains unreleased and untested in the public domain. The panic within the crypto community misplaced, given that the ongoing security breaches on these networks are unrelated to the AI. Misplaced fears distract from addressing the real vulnerabilities in blockchain security.
In April, over $606 million was stolen from decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols across 12 hacks, affecting Ethereum, Solana, and other networks. These incidents were primarily due to social engineering and misconfigurations, not advanced AI attacks. The crypto community's fear of Mythos, therefore, seems misplaced in the context of these specific breaches.
Mythos AI is designed to autonomously find and exploit software vulnerabilities, but its current access is limited to a select group focused on defensive applications. This restricted access aims to prevent the AI from being used maliciously, at least in the short term.
The focus for developers and investors should be on addressing existing vulnerabilities within DeFi protocols and cross-chain systems. The current threats are significant enough to warrant immediate attention without the need for advanced AI like Mythos to exacerbate the situation.
